This juice is inspired by 98 year old Tao Porchon-Lynch, the oldest yogi in the world. This beautiful person totally and completely embraces life and her secret is ‘breath’. In her words: “If you’re in tune with your breath, you’re in tune with the power of the life within you. If you feel that within you, nothing’s impossible. It’s within every plant, every blade of grass. How do they move through the hard soil and come up to give us beautiful blades of grass? This same energy passes through every person or creature on this planet.”

Oh this resonates with me. This ‘breath’ is why juicing is so powerful. The energy of life that is in our bodies is the same energy flowing through the plants that we share the earth with. There is no better way to nourish our bodies than with the pure, living energy from raw plants, and there is no better way to harness our strength and nourish our lives than by tuning into our breath.

When you taste this green juice you’ll know why I call it Breath. It is light tasting, like a breath of fresh air. It has a heightened cleansing feel to it, thank you very much to the rejuvenating nourishment supplied by the pattypans and romaine leaves. It is absolutely bursting with vitamins A, C, K, and folate! (If you’re not familiar, pattypans are cute little squashes that are amazing in juice with their gentle flavour and tender skin.) Inhale deeply, this breath is all yours.

  • 2 cups of romaine lettuce
  • 2 pattypan squashes
  • 1 apple – cored
  • ½ lemon – peeled or not, up to you.
  • 2 celery stalks

This is an easy juice to make. Apples should always be cored but the rest of the produce can be juiced as is without fuss. Just wash and slice to fit your juicer’s capabilities and juice away.

…and BREATH.
