It’s Shooter Time!

Juice shooters are fabulous for so many reasons. They are the perfect little boost when you’re feeling run down or want to add a bonus pop of nourishment to your day. They are fun and easy to share with others who may be new to juicing or afraid of juicing. Given the tiny size of a juice shooter, you can bravely experiment with flavours and not be committed to a regular sized drink. To embrace the spirit of fun and health, I’ll be sharing a series of juice shooter recipes, starting right NOW!

SHOOTER #1 – After Dinner Elixir

This After Dinner Elixir is a sumptuous summer treat for patio entertaining on heavenly warm nights. It is both a palate cleanser and a digestive aid, absolutely perfect to serve after dinner or between courses. It is fresh and sweet, with a little kick from the ginger and turmeric. You can easily make it ahead of time and store it in the fridge so that it is nicely chilled when you serve it. Visually stunning, it’s a bright, bold yellow like a little drop of sunshine! I’ve had a record number of taste testers try out this gem and I am confident that it’s a crowd pleaser.

This is an easy drink to play around with, you really can’t go wrong. You can soften the flavour by adding more pineapple or heat things up by using more ginger. Serve it in shooter glasses or over ice. Share with a crowd or savour it for yourself. It’s all good!

RECIPE FOR 6 SHOOTERS OR 1 SOLO JUICE

  • 1/3 of a pineapple – skin removed
  • 1 cm slice of ginger (or more if you want it spicier)
  • 1 little turmeric root
  • 1 lemon – peeled

Wash, peel, slice it up and juice away! This juice will keep overnight in a sealed jar in the fridge.
